REMINGTON NEW MODEL 1875 U.S. NAVY CONVERSION REVOLVER
#23871/899 wich are the serial and / conversion number. Caliber 38 Centerfire. Standard 7 3/8" Octagonal barrel. Retains about 60% of the original blue finish on barrel and cylinder, with nice traces on the frame. Wooden grips in very good condition with most of the varnish remaining. Action is excellent and the bore is bright with deep rifling. Has the anchor marking (1866) at the end of the barrel denoting Navy use. Equipped with a laynard ring at butt. This is one of the 1000 Pieces the Navy returned to Remington to convert the 36 caliber percussion revolvers to 38 Centerfire "Improved Design" with ejector rod and loading gate. Converted in 1875.
