ANTIQUE POLICE HANDCUFFS.

Handcuff Chain Nipper Twisters. They are kind of special as the two handles do not hook into one another, they slide in order to close. Made of Nickle Plated Steel. Used before regular handcuffs were invented. Loops around the wrist and the officer would hold the ends. Early 1900"s. The Twister was often called the most barbaric style of handcuff. Instead of relying on a lock, this device worked off of cruelty. A metal chain with a handle on each length could be adjusted to many sizes, but could always be tightened more severely to elicit greater compliance from the captor. Both handles measure 3 5/8". Overall measures 15" ( unusually long!). Unmarked, very fine condition.
