Early Japanned Eley100 Cap tin box. The 100 count tins are for the 1849 Colt Pocket and the 1855 Colt Root revolvers. Circa late1840's. The early cased Colt revolvers occasionally will be found with an Eley Cap Tin without a label. These tins are usually 100 count size, and have Eley London embossed on the lid. Cap tins with paper labels were not introduced until the mid 1850s. Tin contains over 50 original caps. Fine condition. REF.Rapley BK II CT#1, Jordan p.261/3.
