CASED COLT MODEL 1873 FLATTOP SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER

 #143XXX. Cal.450 Eley. Standard 7-1/2" Barrel. Pall Mall address. Gun retains 98% of the original blue finish. Hammer has 98% case hardening. Grips in excellent condition. The original case is made of English oak and is perfect with correct label. It contains 4 accoutrements + key for case. Made in 1891. A total of 925 Colt Model 1873 "Flattop" were manufactured between 1888 and 1896. Of that number only 84 were in Caliber 450 Eley! It has "Metford Rifling", 7 lands and grooves and was supposed to reduce black powder fouling, this type of rifling was found in "some" British Caliber Peacemakers! Bore mint, action perfect! A very scarce and desirable set in excellent condition. Comes with a Colt "Factory Letter" confirming the flattop configuration with 7 1/2 inch barrel in .450 Eley caliber, blue finish. It also states the revolver was shipped on December 11, 1891 to the Colt's Patent Fire Arms Mfg. Company London Agency. The gun was also part of an article in D.W.J. (Deutsches Waffen Journal) In December 2000 by the well known German author and Colt Collector "Volker Gremler", owner of the gun since January 1999 (date on the Colt factory letter).
